Guests will be couples who have been in a bridge club together for a number of years. They are Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Laney, Mr. and Mrs. Less Beisecker, Dr. and Mrs. John Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hunter, all from Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buzzell of Manhattan. Mrs. Don Berkey sang at the Executive Mansion Wednesday afternoon at a reception given by the Research Club honoring the State President.
  		Anniversary- Berkey, Don and Mary Jane 2 Berkey s To Have Ruby Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Berkey, Rossville, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 15. in the Rossville American Legion building. The reception will be hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth V. Sibert, Marshall, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis D. Berkey, Rossville; and their five grandchildren. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests that no gifts be presented. Mr. and Mrs. Berkey were married at Topeka November 15, 1941.
  		Anniversary- Berkey, Don and Mary Jane 3 Berkeys Will Celebrate Golden Anniversary November 15, Don and Mary Jane Berkey, Rossville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Western Hills in Topeka. Don Berkey and Mary Jane Nicholson were married November 15, 1941, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Topeka. Attending the dinner will be Curtis and Jo Anne Berkey, Pam Berkey Sibert, Erick Sibert, Tiffany Sibert, Shana Sibert, Kevin and Angela Shriner, Keith Berkey and Kim Hesse.
  		Anniversary- Berkey, Don and Mary Jane 4 Don and Mary Jane Berkey Don and Mary Jane Berkey of Rossville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 15 with a card shower. Don Berkey and Mary Jane Nicholson were married Nov. 15, 1941, in Topeka. Their children are Pam Sibert, Prairie Village, and Curt and JoAnne Berkey, Rossville. They have five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. Mr. Berkey retired in 1979 as assistant treasurer at Santa Fe Railway after 40 years of service. Mrs. Berkey, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music and the Chicago Conservatory of Music, retired in 1979 as a piano and voice teacher after 30 years of teaching.

  Obituary- Berkey, Mary 2 Mary Jane Berkey ROSSVILLE — Mary Jane Berkey, 87, Rossville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Rossville Valley Manor Nurs¬ing Home. Mary Jane was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of James and Margaret Borst Nicholson. She attended school in Slaton, Tex¬as, and graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City. She attended Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., Julliard School of Music in New York and the American Conserva¬tory of Music in Chicago. Mary Jane married Don Ber¬key on Nov. 15, 1941. After World War II, they moved to Rossville where she taught piano and vocal music lessons for 37 years. She was a member of Music Study Club and Minerva Club in Topeka, and Rossville Pres¬byterian Church. She was a judge at statewide high school music competitions for a num¬ber of years, performed with community and church music groups, and was a member of the Rossville Community Library Board and the St. Mary’s Women Golf Club Board. Mary Jane and Don traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe and she was an avid reader, bridge player and golfer. She is survived by her hus¬band of 63 years, Don Berkey; a son and daughter-in-law, Curt and JoAnne Berkey, Rossville; a daughter, Pam Berkey Sibert, Kansas City; seven grandchil¬dren; and seven great¬grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kevin Bren¬nan Family Funeral Home in Topeka. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private inurn¬ment will follow in Rossville Cemetery.
