 | Obituary- Brunin, Robert Robert J. "Bob" Brunin, 68, St. Marys, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 at a Topeka hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1932 on a farm near St. Marys in Wabaunsee County, the son of Clarence M. and Lucille A. Rezac Brunin.
He grew up on the farm and had lived in the St. Marys community all of his life. He was a grain farmer for many years, and moved into St. Marys in the late 80s. He attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic schools in St. Marys. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys He had served on the St. Marys school board for several years.
He married Veronica "Bonnie" Muller on Oct. 6, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. She survives at home. Other survivors include five sons, Edward Brunin, Fort Collins, CO, David Brunin, Thomas Brunin, and Steve Brunin, all of St. Marys, Daniel Brunin, Rossville; two sisters, Joan Wardle, Canton, OH, and Mary Janette Brunin, St. Marys; 14 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. He will like in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a rosary at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert J. Brunin Memorial fund to be designated at a later time and sent on care of piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys 66536. Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
