Robert Laurence Cassity, 54, Rossville, died Monday, June 2, 1986, at his home. He had been ill.
Mr. Cassity retired from the Navy in 1972, after 23 years’ service including the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
He later was an electrical engineer for Certainteed Corporation in Kansas City and for the past two years he and his wife owned and operated Rosewood Gardens flower shop in Silver Lake.
He was born September 25, 1931, at Bremerton, Wash., the son on Ola Wright and Genevieve Jean Laughlin Cassity. He lived in Rossville since 1984, and formerly lived in Lawson. Mo.
Mr. Cassity was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Kaw Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1258, both in Wamego. He also was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.
He was married to Judy Kolb May 4, 1978, at Miami, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Fairchild, Wamego, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Martinez, Rossville; four sons, Paul Douglas Cassity, Hartford, John Clay Cassity and James Wright Cassity, both of Emporia; and Rick Kittle, Topeka; his mother, Mrs. Genevieve Cassity, Wamego; a sister, Mrs. Pat Morford, Emmett; a brother, Terry Cassity, Wamego; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Cassity was cremated. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Brennan Funeral Home in Topeka.
