Melvin M. Collett, 78, Camas, WA, died Monday, September 10, 2001, at his home. He was born January 27, 1923, in Brookings, OR.
Mr. Collett, graduated from Camas High School. He worked for the Crown Zellerbach paper mill for 42 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mid Columbia Artists, American Legion Post 14, Gold Prospectors of America, and the Lost Dutchman Mining Association. He loved fishing, panning for gold, flying model air planes and oil painting.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Irene at home; a daughter, Sherry Collett, Camas, OR; two sons, Ron Collett and Harold Collett, both of Camas, OR; two sisters, June Slaydon, Portland, OR, and Delores Moore, Anaheim, CA; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren,; a brother-in-law, Ben Horak, Delia; and two sisters-in-law, Esther Wehner, Rossville, and Emily Dodge, Delia.
Mrs. Collett was cremated. His service was Saturday, September 16, 2001 at Grace Foursquare Church, Camas,. Davis Cremation and Burial services was in charge of arrangements.
