Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cormack will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Aug. 12.
Hosts will be their children: Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cormack, Lawrence; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cormack, Vernon, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Williams. The couple has six grandchildren.
Walter Cormack and Leona Williamson were married Aug. 9, 1934, at Nebraska City, Neb. Mr. Cormack is retired from USD 501 where he was an elementary school principal.

Walter Vernon Cormack, 92, Topeka, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at his home.
He was born October 2, 1909 in Rossville, the son of Seth Joel and Jesse Shipley Cormack.
He lived in Topeka many years. He grew up in the Rossville community and graduated from Rossville High School in 1927. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washburn University in 1950, and his Master of Arts degree from Kansas University in 1951. He began his teaching career at the age of 17 at the West Union School in western Shawnee County. He taught at Prairie Vale and West Indianola.
After serving in the United States Air Corps during World War II, he taught at Quincy Elementary in Topeka. He was principal at Seabrook, Clay, and Lafayett Elementary Schools in Topeka. He retired in 1973.
He was a member of the University United Methodist Church, Topeka, the Kansas Teachers Association, the Elementary School Principal’s Association, and the Masonic Lodge.
He married Leona Williamson on August 9, 1934 at Nebraska City, NE. She survives. A daughter, Judith Roberson died in 1991.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael Cormack, Lawrence, and Thomas Cormack, Topeka; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
His graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rossville Cemetery. Family visitation was held Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.
