Diana Lynn Cowan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth V. Cowan, Rossville, is betrothed to Frederick Eugene Elevier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Marney, also of Rossville.
Miss Cowan is a 1965 graduate of Rossville Rural High School and a graduate of Clark's School of Business. She is employed in the Santa Fe offices.
Mr. Elevier is a 1962 graduate of Rossville Rural High School and attended Fort Hays State College and Washburn University. He is also employed in the Santa Fe offices. |
 | Marriage- Cowan, Diana-Elevier, Frederick Miss Diana Lynn Cowan and Mr. Frederick E. Elevier exchanged marriage vows at 1:00 p.m., May 27, in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. Marys. The Rev. A.H. Schulz, S.J., read the nuptial Mass.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cowan, Rossville, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marney, also of Rossville.
The bride chose for her wedding a gown of Alencon lace, designed in a sheath silhouette. The empire bodice featured a stand-up collar trimmed with seed pearls, and bridal point sleeves. A watteau train of lace fastened high on the back with an organza bow, and extended to chapel length.
Her bouffant veil of imported bridal illusion was held by a double crown of lace loops edged with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of gardenias, sweetheart roses and ivy, with ribbon streamers.
Vicki Cowan, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmatrons were Mrs. Rodney Lasswell, Mrs. Steven Kinzel, and Mrs. Francis DeDonder. Denise Cowan, also a sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.
Flower girl was Kathleen Marney, and Alan Martinek was ring bearer.
Mr. Elevier was attended by Keith Cowan as best man. Groomsmen were Dave Meneley, Steven Kinzel, and Stan Aldrich. Tom Meyer and Bill Hodges ushered.
A reception in the Centennial Building, St. Marys, followed the wedding.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Elevier are graduates of Rossville High School. The bride is also a graduate of Clark's School of Business, and the bridegroom attended Fort Hays State College, and Washburn University. Both are employed in the Santa Fe General Offices, Topeka.
After a honeymoon trip to the Ozarks the couple is at home at 2240 Plass, Topeka.

SILVER LAKE Frederick Elevier, 55, SilŽver Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 5,1999, at a Topeka hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Elevier worked for the Burlington NorthŽern Santa Fe Railway for 36 years, and he had most recently worked for Lowes Home Improvement Store in Topeka. He served in the Marine Corps from 1964 to 1969.
He was born March 12, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Gerald H. and Phyllis Smith Elevier. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1962, and he attended Fort Hays State College.
Mr. Elevier was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville and Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 534 in Topeka. He had been a 4-H leader in SilŽver Lake, and he served on the Shawnee County Fair Board. He also was active in the Meals on Wheels program in Topeka, and he coached youth baseball and basketball in Silver Lake and at the YMCA in Topeka.
He was married to Diane L. Cowman [sic Cowan] on May 27, 1967, in St. Marys. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Aaron EleviŽer, Overland Park; his mother, Phyllis Marney, Rossville; five sisters, Barbara Brake, Eldo' Mo., Nancy Jons, Overland Park, Cathy LauŽderdale, Kansas City, Kan., Vickie Smith, KanŽsas City, Mo., and Carla Burney, Mayview, Mo.; and seven brothers, Larry Elevier, Kenny EleviŽer, Jimmy Elevier and Steven Elevier, all of Kansas City, Kan., John Elevier, Ozawkie, Jerry Elevier, Lawrence, and Danny Elevier, Kansas City, Mo.
Services will be private. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys.
