Emma Adaline Coleman, daughter of Thomas J. and Lucinda Coleman, was born January 18, 1846, in Wash¬ington, Indiana, and was sixth of a family of ten children. (She depart¬ed this life November 4, 1938, at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 17 days, exactly 52 years to the hour after the death of her husband.
She was married to John Wesley Ellis in 1868 after his return from the Civil War. They came to Kansas and settled on a farm north of Kiro After his death in 1892, Mrs. Ellis moved to Topeka, 600 West 8th St. and lived at that location 46 years, where she died.
Three daughters, Mrs. Lillie Wilt, of Rossville; Mrs. Ethel Barron, of Tucson, Arizona, and Mrs. Luda Ross of the home survive. Also four grandchildren, Mrs. Homer S. Reid, Rossville; Miss Ruby Alice Wilt of Golden, Colo, Miss Barbara Barron and Miss Frances Barron of Tucson, Ariz., and a great grandson, Robert Reid of Rossville. A son, Dumas, preceded the father in death.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 Monday, November 7, at the Wall- Diffenderfer mortuary. Burial was in the Prairie Home cemetery.
