SENECA — Elizabeth Hazel Diehl, 90, Seneca, died Thursday, Aug, 20, 1998, at a Seneca hospital,
Mrs. Diehl had been a nurse's aide at Storrnont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.
She was born Jan, 17, 1908, at White City, the daughter of Robert Rockwell and Flora Wallace Griffiths. She attended school at White City and had lived in the Silver Lake and Rossville areas for 10 years.
Mrs. Diehl was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Seneca.
She married Ralph Nitzsche. They were divorced. She married George Diehl at Stockton. He died Jan. 15, 1967. Mrs. Diehl also was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jean Stankiewitz, and two grandsons, Craig Roosevelt and Marty Nitzsche.
Survivors include four sons, George Nitzsche, Springfield, Mo., Dan Diehl, Seneca, Jim Diehl, Great Bend, and Frank Diehl, Topeka; a daughter, Diane Campbell, Topeka; a brother, Rex Griffiths, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Lillian Bowman, White City; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at St. Benedict. Inurnment at Rossville Cemetery will be at a later date. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Popkess Mortuary in Seneca.
Memorial contributions may be made to Capper s Foundation of Topeka and sent in care of the mortuary.

Elizabeth Hazel Diehl, 90, Sen¬eca, died Thursday, August 20, 1998, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Hazel was born January 17, 1998, at White City, the daughter of Robert Rockwell and Flora Wallace Griffiths. She attended schools at White City. She was married to Ralph Nitzsche and was later divorced. She married George Diehl at Stockton. They lived in Rossville and Silver Lake for approximately 10 years.
Hazel was a mother and a homemaker. She had worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.
Hazel was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.
George Diehl died January 15, 1967. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Griffiths and Robert Griffiths; a daughter, Doris Jean Stankiewitz; and two grandsons, Craig Roosevelt and Marty Nitzsche.
Hazel is survived by four sons, George Nitzsche, Springfield, Mo., Dan Diehl, Seneca, Jim Diehl, Great Bend, and Frank Diehl, Topeka; a daughter, Diane Campbell, Topeka; a brother, Rex Griffiths, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Lillian Bowman, White City; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was prayed Friday evening at 7:00 at the Popkess Mortuary in Seneca. Linda Broxterman led the rosary.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the St Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict Abbott Ralph Koehler, OSB, was the celebrant The St. Mary’s Choir provided the music. A private inurnment was conducted at the Rossville City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Capper Foundation of Topeka and sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary.
