Mrs. Loretta Marie Simecka Dodd, 72, Ottawa, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1986, at a hospital in Brea, Calif.
She had been an office manager and had worked in Ottawa many years. She was born July 24, 1914 on a farm near Delia, the daughter of Joseph Benjamin and Mary Johanna Cander Simecka. She spent her youth on a farm east of Delia and attended Stach Rural School. She graduated from Delia High School in 1932.
She had worked in Topeka and then moved to Ottawa, where she worked for the Bennett Ice Co. Later she became the office manager at Gambles, where she worked from 1952 to 1974. She also worked at the Bennett retail store until it closed in the late 1970s.
She was baptized in the Catholic faith and had attended the Trinity Methodist Church, Ottawa. She was married to Harry Ennis Dodd on Sept. 11, 1935 at Topeka. He died April 21, 1978.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donna Rae Black, Diamond Bar, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Thompson and Leona Paulini, both of Rossville, Josephine Constant, Topeka; four brothers, Leo Simecka, Topeka, Ray Simecka, Escondido, Calif., Arthur Simecka, Clinton, Montana, and Ben J. Simecka, Delia; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. Burial was to be in the Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
