Bill and Betty Frey, Silver Lake, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Silver Lake Senior Citizen Center.
Hosting the reception will be their son Darrel Frey, Silver Lake, and daughter Mary Jo Kippes, Topeka, and their families.
William W. Frey and Betty Mitchell were married Jan. 23, 1944, at her parents’ home in Topeka. They have one granddaughter and grandsons.

SILVER LAKE - William Weir Frey, 72, Silver Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 1996, at a Topeka nursing center.
Mr. Frey was an electrician and plumber and had worked for Roberson Lumber Co., Silver Lake, before retiring in 1986.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He was born Dec. 10, 1923, at Silver Lake, the son of LeRoy Jacob and Ethel Lillian Weir Frey. He graduated from Silver Lake High School and lived in the community all his life.
He was a member of Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene, Topeka; the Silver Lake Se¬nior Citizens; and the Disabled American Veterans.
He married Betty Louise Mitchell on Jan. 23, 1944, at Topeka. She survives, of the home.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mary Jo Kippes, Topeka; a son, Darrel W. Frey, Silver Lake; a sister, Wanda Stolle, Silver Lake; a brother, Dale F. Frey, Silver Lake; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Robert "Bob" Frey, on Dec. 5, 1965.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Frey will lie in state from 10 a.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday at the mortuary, after which the casket will remain closed.
