Hosting the reception will be the couple’s children — Dr. Raymond and Debra Hoobler, Atlanta, Ga., and Susan and Bruce Ottmann, and grandsons Matthew, Mark, and Michael Ottman, Topeka. Lloyd Hoobler and Dorothy Newcomer were married November 13, 1945, at her home near Uniontown, Pa. Mr. Hoobler served almost four years with the U.S. Army during World War 2, then worked for the Jones Alfalfa Milling Company, St. Marys, and the C.G.F. Grain Company, Topeka. He retired in 1982 from the Irrigation Department of the Farmers Union Cooperative Association, St. Marys. Mrs. Hoobler is a free-lance journalist who writes a historical column and feature articles for the “St Marys Star.” She has published two books about the history of St Marys.   Obituary- Hoobler, Dorothy Dorothy Newcomer Hoobler Dorothy Newcomer Hoobler, 80, Topeka, formerly of St. Marys died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Aldersgate Village. She was born January 13, 1925 in Uniontown, PA., the daughter of James Carman and Ruth Moyer Newcomer. She had lived in the St. Marys community many years before moving to Aldersgate Village. She grew up in Uniontown, PA., and graduated from German Township High School. She had attended Juniata College. Mrs. Hoobler was a homemaker. She was an author writing "THE OREGON TRAIL, THE JESUIT MISSION, THE TOWN OF ST. MARYS” "ONE HUNDRED YEARS IS JUST THE BEGINNING: and "AND THEY CALLED THE SITE "ST. MARYS". She also was a freelance columnist for the St. Marys Star. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church where she was a church organist and a member of the women's group. She was a member of the Railroaders Camping Club in Topeka. A past member of Artha Chapter No. 238 OES, and Hoy-Heim American Legion Auxiliary in St. Marys. She was married to Lloyd A. Hoobler on November 13, 1945 at Uniontown. He died on December 16, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James C. Newcomer, and a sister, Betty N. Davis. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Ottman, Topeka; a son, Dr. Ray Hoobler, McDonough, GA.; her sister, Elinor Shoaf, Wheeling W.VA.; a brother, The Rev. Benton Newcomer, Carmel, CA.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village and sent in care of the funeral home.
