 | Obituary- King, Cora 1 Mrs. Cora King
Cora Bertha, daughter of Charles and Martha Steele, was born at Newtonville Buchanan County, Iowa, August 25, 1874, where she grew to young womanhood. She passed away suddenly Thursday evening, November 24, 1949, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 29 days.
She was united in marriage to Geo. N. King, on September 22, 1892. To this union was born two daughters, Gladys McDaniel of Delia, and Mabel Keller of Rossville, and one son Charles King of Lockwood, Mo.
She was a member of the united Brethren Church. She, with her husband and family, moved to Kansas in March, 1903. They made their home on a farm north of Delia until the death of her husband in 1941. Since that time she made her home in Delia for two years and the past six years has made her home in Rossville with her daughter, Mrs. Levi Keller.
She leaves to mourn her loss the two daughters and one son, two brothers, Clark Steele of Davenport, Iowa, and Howard Steele of Independence, Iowa; seven grandchildren and four great-grand children. Three brothers and one sister precede her in death.
She was a kind and loving wife and a devoted Mother, and in her last years her grandchildren and small great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
Funeral services were held at the Delia Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, with the Rev. Travis Seiver of Holton, and the Rev. Maurice Graham of the Rossville Christian church in charge.
Burial was in the Delia Cemetery.
The beautiful eyes are closed;
The busy hands are still.
A tired heart has ceased to beat,
It was the Masters will.
