John A. Murrow
John A. Murrow, 85, 1135 College, formerly of 2045 Webster, died Wednesday at a nursing home after a short illness.
He was born Jan. 14, 1886, at Delia and had lived in Topeka since 1906.
He married Hallie Beckwith Sept. 20, 1911. He was a letter; carrier for 40 years before retiring in 1950. He then entered the real estate business for about 10 years.
He was a member of the Euclid Methodist Church, had been a Sunday school teacher for 40 years, served 20 years as chairman of the church music (committee at the Trinity Methodist Church, and served two terms as chairman of the Trinity Methodist Church board of trustees. He later became a member of the University
United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Beulah Chapter 34 of the Order of Eastern Star, a 50 year member of the Siloam Lodge No. 225, AF&AM, and a 60-year member of the Postal Employees Union. He was also a member of the Retired Governmental Employees Assn.
Survivors besides his widow include three sons, Vernon Murrow, 4003 Holly Lane, Kenneth L. Murrow, 2767 Plass, and John W. Murrow, Prairie Village; three sisters, Mrs. Floy Wood, 1433 N. Central, Mrs. Nellie West, Stanton, Calif., and Mrs. Maude Sumner, Mayetta and a brother, Ray A. Murrow, 1524 Tyler.
Services are pending at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Siloam Lodge No. 225, AF&AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the University United Methodist Church, 17th and College, 66604.
