The children of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sumner, Mayetta, will honor their parents upon the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Mar. 29, with a reception at the Delia Grade School.
Friends and relatives are asked to call between three and five o’clock p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.
There are nine living children: Mrs. Chester Lutz, Mayetta; John Sumner, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Ted Sumner, Hereford, Tex.; Ray Sumner, Tacoma, Wash.; Everett Sumner, and Bob Sumner, Delia; Dale Sumner, and Don Sumner, Topeka; Bill Sumner, of Manhattan.
A son, Cleve Sumner, died in 1963.
Mr. and Mrs. Sumner were married Apr. 4, 1910, in Topeka. They have 31 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Lutz, Holton and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lutz, Silver Lake, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversaries with a double reception from 2-5 p.m., Sept. 29 at the Holiday Inn West, Topeka. Hosts for the occasion will be their children and families: Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lutz, Holton; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lutz, Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Ronal Lutz, Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Simecka, Boulder City, Nev.; and MR. and Mrs. Jack Wallace Topeka.
Ethel Sumner and Chester Lutz were married Sept. 14, 1935, in Holton. They lived in the Delia-Mayetta community for 35 years, before moving to Holton in 1970.
Garnet Wood and Lester Lutz were married July 10, 1935, in Lyndon. They lived in the Delia-Mayetta community until 1970, when they moved to Silver Lake.
The couples request no gifts.

Ethel Josephine Sumner Lutz, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, April 2, 2012, at The Homestead in Topeka.
Ethel was the only daughter in a family of 10 and spent most of her life in the Delia and Holton communities.
She was married for 58 years to Chester Lutz, who preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1997. Together, they farmed and raised beef cattle. During their retirement they traveled with family in their motor home and enjoyed many great times bowling with friends and watching KC Royals baseball. She will be remembered for her love for her family, the many hours spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her hobby of antiquing, and affection for her pets.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald Lutz (Joyce) Topeka, Larry Lutz (Katie), Topeka and Jerry Lutz (Jana), Holton; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Bob Sumner (Margaret), St. Marys, Don Sumner (Peggy), Topeka, Bill Sumner (Kay),Topeka; sisters-in-law Virginia Sumner, Amarillo, Texas, Beth Sumner, Lakewood, Wash., Naomi Sumner, St. Marys, Doris Sumner, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Katherine Sumner, Estes Park, Colo.; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Ethel was preceded in death by brothers Ted Sumner, Ray Sumner, Everett Sumner, John Sumner, Dale Sumner, and Cleve Sumner and wife Josephine.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7 at the First Baptist Church in Holton. Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Holton, were in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Holton Community Hospital, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P. O. Box 1034,66436.
Interment was in the Delia Cemetery.

HOLTON - Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 504 Juniper Dr., Holton. Ethel Josephine Sumner Lutz, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, April 2nd, at The Homestead in Topeka. Interment in the Delia Cemetery will follow for immediate family members. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Lutz to celebrate 90th birthday
Ethel Sumner Lutz will celebrate her 90th birthday on Oct. 8.
Ethel was born in Jackson County and has continued to live there most of her life. She was married to Chester Lutz for 62 years until his death in 1997.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as, her brothers and their spouses will help her celebrate at a family brunch to be held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka. The brunch will be hosted by her children and their spouses; Ronald and Joyce Lutz, Topeka; Larry and Katie Lutz, Topeka; and Jerry and Jana Lutz, Holton. In addition to her three sons, she has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
