 | Obituary- Payne, Carrie Carrie Mabel Payne
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Payne, 63, formerly of Rossville and Topeka, were held at the Eslinger Funeral Home Monday at 10 a. m. and the body brought to Rossville Cemetery for burial.
Mrs. Payne died in Spokane, Wash. Thursday of last week and the body arrived in Topeka Saturday evening,
She was born in Phillips Co. Kans., May 2, 1886 and came to Rossville when an infant with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John T Short. She was married to Mr. Truman Payne at Topeka, in June, 1903. She was the I mother of seven children, one son, Lloyd and one daughter, Darlene preceding her in death.
Survivors are her husband, Truman Payne of Topeka five sons, Truman Payne, Jr., and Harold Payne, both of Topeka; Kenneth of Spokane and Paul and Robert of Boston, Mass.; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Ober in California, Mrs. Maude Woods, Mrs. Nora Faust and Mrs. Mary Falkner of Topeka; a brother, John Short, of St. Marys, and 10 grandchildren.
