Mrs. Betty Lee Peery
ROSSVILLE — Mrs. Betty Lee Peery, 65, Rossville, died Thursday, April 11, 1991, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Samuel and Ethel Beck Smith. She and her husband lived in Texas, Arkansas and California before she moved to the. Rossville community about 10 years ago.
Mrs. Peery was a member of Levick-Barrett Unit No. 282 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wetmore.
She was married to Jason U. Peery April 25, 1942, in Texas. He died in 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Love, Wetmore; three sons, Floyd Peery, Hopland, Calif., Thomas Peery, Ethel, Wash., and James Peery, La Grange, Ga.; five sisters, Vera Drake, St. Joseph, Mo., Wanda Kinzel, Kansas City, Kan., Luella McConnell and Phyllis Marney, both of Rossville, and Neva Padgett, Topeka; three brothers, Harold Smith, in Indiana, Lloyd Smith, Denver, Colo., and Thomas Smith, Topeka; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Cremation is planned. Mrs. Peery will lie in state after 9 a m. Sunday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
