Cletus L. Perry
ST. MARYS — Cletus L. Perry, 83, St. Marys, died Thursday, June 24,2004, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born April 13,1921, at St. Marys, the son of Frank J. and Mary Alice Sadler Perry.
Mr. Perry had lived in the St. Marys community many years. He graduated from St. Marys High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was the manager of the Co-Op Hardware Store in St. Marys for 37 years, retiring in 1983. After his retirement, he worked at Rezac Sale Barn and Brockish Plumbing, both in St. Marys.
He was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church, where he served as church treasurer for many years and was active in the building of Hammond Hall at the church.
He married Dorothy Larison on
Dec. 23,1942, at Salinas, Calif.
She survives, of the home.
Other survivors are a daughter, Sheryl Dick, Topeka; sons Ronald Perry, Lawrence, and Daniel “Joe” Perry, Emmett; a sister, Betty Hill, Oklahoma City; a brother, Richard Perry, Topeka; grandchildren, Mick Perry, Becky Seele, Jeff Dick and Jenny Dick; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in St. Marys. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys.
Mr. Perry will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Piper- Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys United Methodist Church, or to research for necrotizing fasciitis and sent in care of the funeral home.
