Dana Fern Rees, 81, of Holton passed away Nov. 19, 2008, at Community Hospital in Onaga.
She was born June 14, 1927, in Ness County, the daughter of Charlie W. and Pearl Ann Reynolds Petersilie. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1965, the same year her son Lloyd graduated.
She had lived in the Holton area since 2005 and had previously lived in Delia and Grantville. Dana was a farm wife; a cook in several cafes and also owned Coffee Time Cafe in Grantville; she also owned and operated D & G Ceramic Shop in Delia.
She was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church and a member of O.E.S Helena Chapter No. 310 in Topeka.
Dana married George R. Rees on Sept. 30, 1956, in Ness County. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Ginny Robinson of Holton; sisters, Wanda LaBonte of Colorado Springs, Colo., Arlene Riegle of Wichita, and Barbara Schumacher and her husband, Ken of Great Bend; brothers, Art Petersilie and his wife, Ethyl of Lecompton, and Ory J. Petersilie and his wife, Shelia of Otis; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Lloyd C. Culp in 2005 and an infant son, Raymond in 1945.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 22, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton; cremation followed.
