Albert Anderson Stamp, a resident of Rossville the past 50 years, died in a hospital at McPherson, Ks., Sunday, Dec. 29, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 2 days. For many years he was the Union Pacific section foreman here, being placed on the retired list about ten years ago. Since the death of Mrs. Stamp, Feb. 3, 1935, while maintaining his home here spent most of his time among his children and other relatives. He was visiting his son, Clarence, at McPherson when death came.
Mr. Stamp was born Oct. 27, 1860 near Topeka. He married Roena Equilla Richards, Sept. 19, 1887, at Erie, Kansas. Nine children were born to them, three passing away in infancy. Those surviving him, all reared in this community, are four daughters, Estella Burns, Rock Ford, Colo.; Nora Atkinson, Lincoln, Neb.; Mary Hansas, Kansas City, Mo.; Josephine Johnson, Eskridge, Ks.; Two sons, Edwin of Green River, Wyo., and Clarence, of McPherson, Kansas. Also two brothers Edwin Stamp, Junction City, Kan., and John Stamp, Ogden, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Neaves, Corvallis, Mont.; Anna O'Malley, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lula Oates, Elmont, Kan.; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Rossville Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the past, Rev. C.P. Broadfoot. Music was furnished by Mrs. N.G. Moody and Mrs. Broadfoot, with Mrs. Rollin Gresser, accompanist.
Burial was in the family lot in Rossville cemetery.
