As we were driving by the Rossville Cemetery one October day 2010, the Wamego Funeral Home was preparing for the burial of this woman. She was born 1921. Died Oct 2010; Husband ____. next to her. This grave is located at top of hill in the far north side next to paved road and by the large Fritz sign. No obit was located.

 | Obituary- Sumpter, Bonnie 2 Bonnie M Sumpter Redmond, 89, former resident of Herington, died Saturday, October 16th, 2010, at the Smoky Hill Rehab Center in Salina. She was born on June 13, 1921, at Herington, the daughter of Roy A. and Julia M. (Webster) Lamb.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, October 19th, 2010, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating; burial will at 2:00pm in the Rossville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, Monday from 2pm until 7pm; and Tuesday from 9am until time of service.
Mrs. Redmond worked for many years as a secretary at Forbes Air Force Base, then Josten's in Topeka. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, Rebecca's. N.A.R.F, Topeka Quilters, and the Council Grove DAR. Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting. quilting, crafting, ceramics, reading, square dancing, camping, gardening, canning, and cooking. She held offices with the local and state level camping clubs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Herington. She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1939.
She is survived by her niece Chrystal Brunner (husband-Milton) of Salina, a great niece Tiffany Schlesener (husband-Leo) of Herington, and two (2) great-great nephews Kyler and Zachary.
Preceded in death by her husband Bluford "Blu" Sumpter in 1961, her sister Leona Nelson, brother-in-law Floyd Nelson, and her parents.
