Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Perry announce the marriage of their daughter, JoAnn Rachel, to Mr. Raymond Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Clark of Delia, on Saturday morning, May 26, at Holy Cross Church, Emmett, in a double ring ceremony. Rev. William Lobeck, pastor, performed the wedding ceremony.
The servers were Joe Flanagan and Caro, both friends of the couple.
The bride chose as her only attendant, Miss JoAnn Holbert, of Delia, as her maid of honor, dressed in an aqua suit with white accessories. She carried a white prayer book, and her corsage was of yellow roses.
The bride was attired in a golden wheat suit with white accessories. She wore a cross and gold ear rings, gift of the groom. She carried a white prayer book, topped with a gold cross. She chose talisman roses as her corsage.
The groom selected his cousin, Mr. George Clark, of Emmett, as best man. He wore a gray suit.
The groom wore a blue suit. Both best man and groom had white carnations boutonnieres.
Music was furnished by the church choir for the nuptial high Mass. Miss Fredia Laswell, sang after the ceremony: "On This Day, Beautiful Mother" A friend of the couple, Miss Bonnie Laswell, Fredia Lasswell and charge of the guest book.
The bride's mother appeared in a pink and white silk dress and black accessories. She wore pink and white carnation corsage. The groom's mother, wore a blue linen and white dress, black accessories and a pink carnation corsage.
Bonnie Lasswell, Freda Lasswell and Tillie McNeive, who played the organ, wore a white rose corsage. After the wedding a reception was held in the Holy Cross hall.
The wedding cake was given to the couple by the bride's brother, W.L. Van Vleck and family of Topeka.
Mrs. Frank Stach of Rossville cut the beautiful four-tier cake.
Mrs. Rafe Clark of Kansas City sister-in-law of the groom, cut the big sheet cake, which was given to the couple by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Perry.
The bride is an alumna of Rossville High School.
The groom attended Emmett school. He is engaged in farming. The newly weds will reside 3 1/2 miles southeast of Emmett.
A dance was held for friends and relatives at the church hall, the night of May 26. Sumner's music was provided. - St. Mary Star.

Jo Ann Clark, daughter of Mrs. Bessie Perry, Emmett, became the bride of Mr. Charles R. Vande Velde, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. VandeVelde, Emmett, on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10:00 a.m. in the Delia Sacred Heart Church. The double-ring ceremony was read by the Rev. George Seuferling, Frankfort, former pastor of the Emmett and Delia parishes.
The bride’s daughter, Iona K. Clark, and the bridegroom’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Roberta Vande Velde, Topeka, attended the bride.
Altar boys were nephews of the bridegroom, Robert Vande Velde, Emmett, Ronnie Vande Velde of Delia. Commentator was another nephew, August Vande Velde of Silver Lake.
Music was furnished by Peggy Zelfer, at the organ, who accompanied Pam DeVader, soloist. Both are from Emmett.
The bride chose for her wedding, an aqua sheath over lace and silver coat, with silver accessories. Her corsage was of American Beauty red roses. The matron of honor wore a white and silver two-piece suit with red accessories. Miss Clark had black accessories for her dress of fuchia. Each wore an orchid corsage.
Serving as best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Bennie Vande Velde, Topeka; the groomsman was another brother, Auggie Vande Velde of Emmett.
Ushers were Leo Tholl, Ed DeVader of Emmett, Ronnie Mulanax, Delia, Omer Van Vleck, Rossville, brother of the bride.
At the reception, Mrs. Leo Tholl was at the guest book. Mrs. Ronnie Vande Velde, Delia, presided at the coffee. Mrs. Roy Seematter, Frankfort, cut and served the four-tiered wedding cake. The sheet cakes were served by the bridegroom’s aunt, Mrs. Margaret Vande Velde of Emmett. At the punch bowl was the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. Charles Gaignet, of Lenexa.
Peggy and Shirley Bond of Delia, Mrs. August Vande Velde were in charge of the gift table.
A wedding dance was held that evening in the Bohemian Hall. Following a wedding trip through Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, the couple is residing in Delia, where Mr. Vande Velde is engaged in farming.

Joann VandeVelde, 46, Emmett, died Sunday, December 2, 1979, enroute to a hospital. She was born April 5, 1933, to Richard and Bessie Gutshall Perry in Rossville.
May 26, 1951, Joann was married to Raymond Clark at Emmett. He died April 8, 1966. She was married to Charles VandeVelde on February 3, 1968, at Delia. He survives.
Mrs. VandeVelde lived all her life in the Delia and Emmett communities. She was a member of the Holy Cross Church at Emmett and the Altar Society of the Church. She served as chairman of the Social Concerns Committee of the Parish Council.
Other survivors are one son, Marvin Clark, St. Marys; two daughters, Mrs. Iona Mulanax, St. George, and Dianna L. VandeVelde of the home; four brothers, Walter Van Vleck and Frank Van Vleck, Topeka, Marvin Van Vleck, Athens, Ga., and Omer Van Vleck, Rossville; a sister, Gladys Chilson, Federal Way, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Angie Mulanax, St. George.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Verschelden Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, at Holy Cross Church, Emmett. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys.
