Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner ask that no gifts be presented. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner were married June 6, 1917 in Wien, Mo. Mr. Wehner has operated grocery stores in St. Marys and Delia for many years. After living in Delia 36 years, they have been residents of St, Marys since 1955. They are the parents of seven children, who are: Mrs. James Doyle, Colville, Wash.; Mrs. Ray Rezac and Mrs. John Simecka, St. Marys; Clarence, Wehner and John Wehner, Rossville; Melvin Wehner, Eudora; and Francis Wehner, Sharon Springs. There are 27 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
  		Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 2 To celebrate Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Sunday, June 4, at a reception hosted by their children. The reception will be held at the Centennial Building in St. Marys. Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner request that no gifts be presented. Mr. Wehner came to St. Marys in 1915 and operated a grocery store. They were married at Wien, Mo., June 6, 1917. In 1919 they moved to Delia and spent 36 years in the grocery business there. Since 1955 they have been residents of St. Marys, at 209 East Palmer Street. They are the parents of seven children. Mrs. James (Irene) Doyle, Colvill, Wash.; Clarence Wehner and John Wehner, both of Rossville; Melvin Wehner, Eudora; Francis Wehner, Sharon Springs; Mrs. Ray (Katharine) Rezac and Mrs. John (Florence) Simecka, both of St. Marys. They have 27 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
  		Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 3 Wehner’s Celebrate 55 Years Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Sunday with a 10:00 mass at the Immaculate Conception Church which was followed by a dinner for 65 people in the Centennial Building. Their seven children were here to help celebrate this festive occasion in the lives of their parents. Mrs. Irene Doyle, Spokane, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wehner, Rossville, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Wehner, Rossville, Mrs. Katherine Rezac, St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Simecka, St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wehner, Eudora, Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Wehner, Sharon Springs, were here. A number of their grandchildren and great grandchildren also came. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Stallman, Independence, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Stallman and Mrs. Anna Kamphaus, Kansas City, Mo. are Mrs. Wehner’s brothers and sister and also were here to attend the mass and dinner. The Rev. Tom Kearns and the Rev. Robert Hasenkamp were dinner guests.
  		Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 4 John Wehners Celebrate 59th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 22, with a family picnic and reunion held in Riverside Park. Fifty-five relatives were among the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending and sharing in the bountiful meal.
  		Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 5 Wehners to Celebrate 60th Anniversary June 5 Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, will be honored with a 60th wedding anniversary reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, in their home at 209 E. Palmer. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests that no gifts be presented. Hosts will be their seven children: Irene Doyle, Spokane, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wehner and Mr. and Mrs. John Wehner, Rossville; Katie Rezac and Mr. and Mrs. John L. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner were married June 6, 1917 at Wein, Mo., and have lived in the Delia and St. Marys communities since their marriage where they spent most of their years in the grocery business. They have 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Wehner and Miss Mary Stallman were married June 6, 1917, at Wien, Mo., and this year are observing their 62nd year of marriage. The couple has lived in St. Marys since October, 1955, moving to the community from Delia where they operated a grocery store for 36 years. The Wehners are the parents of seven children--Mrs. Irene Doyle, Spokane, Wash.; Clarence and John A., Rossville; Melvin, Eudora; Francis, Sharon Springs; Mrs. Katie Rezac and Mrs. Florence Simecka, St. Marys.

Hosts will be their three children and spouses, John L. and Peg Wehner, St. Marys; Bob and Jolyne Wehner, Rossville; and Debbie and Rocky Taylor, Topeka. They have nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Both are retired from the grocery and hardware business. They owned and operated Wehner’s Thriftway and Wehner’s True Value Hardware in Rossville and Silver Lake for many years. They request no gifts.

He was born October 21, 1928 at Delia the son of John J. and Mary E. Stallman Wehner. John graduated from Delia High School in 1947. Mr. Wehner worked for the Union Pacific Railroad about 10 months then at his father's grocery store in Delia. John A. and Esther Wehner purchased the Delia store on February 19, 1949 and operated it until January 1, 1957. He moved to Rossville and bought Wehner's IGA from his brother Clarence. They added Western Auto in 1959. In 1969 they built the grocery store in Silver Lake and changed from Western Auto to True Value. The new store in Rossville was built in 2001 and Johnny Dollar was opened on July 7, 2006. John was looking forward to the Wehner family celebrating 100 years of business on April 15, 2015. John was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Mr. Wehner was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Irene Doyle, Florence Simecka, Clarence Wehner and Kathryn Rezac. On October 10, 1945 he was united in marriage to Esther Horak in Delia. They celebrated 69 years of marriage. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, John L. (Peg) Wehner, St. Marys, Bob (Jolyne) Wehner, Rossville and Debbie (Rocky) Taylor, Topeka; two brothers, Melvin Wehner, Eudora and Francis (Mary C.) Wehner, Colorado Springs, CO; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild on the way. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Mr. Wehner will lie in state after 6:00 P.M. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the church where there will be a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery.
