Myron E. Wells, born in 1901, died of a heart attack at his home Thursday evening, February 11.
Myron was born at Williamstown, and was the eldest son of Clarence and Lillie Wells. He stayed with his folks, helping them farm until the family moved to St. Marys.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 393 of Mayetta as well as a member of Eastern Star 383.
He worked as a truck driver for several years, but his heart was really with farming. His first farm was north of Delia.
He married Lillian Jennings in 1926 and took his bride to live on his farm. Several years later they bought a farm 2 miles north and 8 miles west of Mayetta where they lived until his retirement in 1971. After retirement they moved to Holton where he resided until his death.
He leaves his wife, Lillian, of the home; three brothers, George Wells of Topeka, Cecil and Herbert Wells of Holton; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Eby of Mayetta and Mrs. Clara Harper of New Castle, Wyoming; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, from The Mercer Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy West officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery.
The music was furnished by Mrs. Dolores Wright who sang “How Great Thou Art.”
The active pallbearers were Creston Kern, Carl Nelson, Clarence Vaught, Elmer Eckhoff, James Johnson and Ray Cox. Honorary pallbearers were John Lytle, Charles Harden, Glenn Robison, Robert Crumpter, Chris Martin, Leland Salts and Luther Jacobs.
Memorials were made to the Holton Hospital heart monitor fund in care of the Holton Hospital 66436.

HOLTON — Myron E. Wells, 81, Holton, died of natural causes late Thursday at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1901, at Delia, the son of Clarence and Lilia Stone Wells. Mr. Wells was a farmer in the Mayetta community until he retired 12 years ago and moved to Holton.
He was a member of Mayetta Lodge No. 393, AF&AM, and Mayetta Chapter No 383 of the Order of Eastern Star.
He married Lillian Jennings in November 1926 at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include three brothers, Herbert Wells and Cecil Wells, both of Holton, and George Wells 557 Burr, Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Eby, Mayetta, and Mrs. Clara Harper, Newcastle, Wyo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Mayetta Lodge No. 393, AF&AM, in Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made .to Holton Hospital, heart monitor fund, Holton, 66436.
