Dorothy Gail Wright, 74, Topeka, died Monday, April 28, 1997, at home.
She was born April 3,1923, in Rossville, the daughter of Roy W. and Emma Ruth Trostle Searcy. She was graduated in 1940 from Meriden High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She lived in Meriden, Lawrence, Denver, Albuquerque and Gallup, N.M., and San Angelo, Texas. She was a secretary for McKinley County Schools in Gallup, N.M., 22 years before she retired in 1989.
She was a member of Kansas Avenue
United Methodist Church.
She was married to Ray William Wright
June 20, 1945, in Lawrence. He died Jan. 30, 1993.
Survivors include a son, Dana Ray
Wright, Denver; a daughter, Tana Lynn Day, Land O’Lakes, Fla.; three brothers, Edward Searcy, Carl Searcy and Ray Searcy, all in Topeka; four sisters, Mary Miller, Golda Plumly and Pearl Wood, all in Topeka, and Eileen Creveling, Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mrs. Wright will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
